MedStar
National Rehab Hospital is looking for a Full Time Unit Clerk in the Float Pool
unit. This position is 40 hours per week and will rotate between the following
shifts 7:00AM-3:30PM and 3:00PM-11:30PM with rotating weekend. The Unit Clerk is accountable for the provision of clerical service to a
specific patient care center to include direct and indirect communication,
coordination of information and resources in a safe and efficient environment.
The incumbent in this position will work in a 'float' capacity where the
individual will be required to work within various different departments based
on clinical need.
What you will do Performs
reception, clerical and information system functions which support the
standards of MedStar National Rehabilitation Network (MNRN) and the
Nursing Services. Maintains the
Nursing Station as a vital communication center. Communicates
with all levels of employees, patients and visitors. Prepares
records and reports and maintains charts as directed. Participates in
effective and efficient management of material and financial resources. Informs the
Director of Nursing and/or Clinical Manager of unit status in regards to
clerical function, system maintenance and work flow. Responsible for
the implementation of customer service standards with patient, family,
staff and visitors. Demonstrates
job knowledge and takes steps to remain competent in skills required. Participates in
nursing in-services. Maintains
hospital and unit based competency. Uses electronic
systems as required to comply with mandatory education and training. Assist with the
training of new nursing staff. Demonstrates
interest in the position, keeps up-to-date with changes in
responsibilities and makes efforts to learn new skills. Attends staff
meeting or attains newsletter to gain information related to unit
activities and goals.
Qualifications High School
Diploma or GED Required or Less than 1
year 6 months of hospital or health service related experience Preferred The ideal
candidate must have excellent customer service skills, sensitivity to
patients and family members, be able to work in a team with various
healthcare professionals, ability to multi task in a fast paced
environment and be highly organized.
