Job Description
Description As Learning Instructor II for Clinical Informatics, you will be a pivotal member of our Clinical Informatics & Learning team, responsible for designing, delivering, and evaluating EHR training programs. Your expertise in instructional design, training methodologies, and healthcare technology will empower our staff to use our EHR and related systems proficiently and efficiently to improve patient safety, care delivery, and patient, family, and staff experience every day.
Qualifications

Minimum Education

  • Bachelor's Degree Bachelor's degree in education, health care, instructional design, or a related field is advantageous. (Required) Or Relevant experience in learning instruction beyond the minimum required work experience may substitute for the educational requirement on a 1-1 ration i.e. one year of relevant work experience equals one year of required education.
  • Master's Degree Master's or other advanced degree in education, health care, instructional design, or a related field is advantageous. (Preferred)

Minimum Work Experience

  • 2 years Two years of experience in adult education, instructional design, training delivery, and/or curriculum development, preferably in a health care or medical environment. (Required)
  • 5 years Five years technical or professional experience using EHRs and/or related software. (Required)

Required Skills/Knowledge

  • Strong expertise in EHR systems and healthcare technology, with a focus on integration into clinical workflows.
  • Proficiency in using e-learning authoring tools, learning management systems (LMS), and virtual training platforms.
  • Excellent presentation and communication skills, with the ability to convey complex technical concepts to non-technical audiences through multiple channels, including static and dynamic pre-recorded and live content delivery.
  • Strong project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple training initiatives simultaneously.
  • Demonstrated experience in instructional design methodologies and adult learning principles.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in cross-functional teams and build relationships with clinical, operational, administrative, and IT stakeholders.

Required Licenses and Certifications

  • CPLP / CPTD, EHR-specific certification(s) (Preferred)

Functional Accountabilities

  • Lead the development and execution of comprehensive EHR training programs for clinical and administrative staff, ensuring alignment with organizational goals, priorities, standards, culture, and best practices.
  • Collaborate with subject matter experts, IT teams, and clinical stakeholders to understand EHR system functionalities and workflows to create relevant and effective training materials.
  • Utilize adult learning principles and instructional design methodologies to create engaging learning experiences that cater to diverse learning styles.
  • Design engaging and interactive training content, including e-learning modules, instructor-led sessions, simulations, job aids and other reference material.
  • Deliver training through multiple channels, including individual and small group instruction and support, classroom and webinar style sessions, remote and in-person training events.
  • Modify education and training materials and communication to specific clinical roles and workflows.
  • Support new trainee and staff onboarding and continuous learning, projects entailing new functionality or changes in workflows, and other targeted learning experiences.
  • Assess training needs and performance gaps, and continuously enhance training materials based on learner feedback and evolving EHR and related system updates and changes.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of training materials and programs through feedback and adoption, efficiency, and compliance metrics to measure learning outcomes and make improvements.
  • Stay up-to-date with EHR system updates and changes, incorporating them into training materials and sessions.
  • Coordinate with other departments to provide seamless learning experiences for new and onboarding staff, including students, trainees, junior and senior faculty and staff across disciplines.
  • Mentor and guide junior instructors, fostering their growth and development.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
