Job Description
Job Responsibilities
  • Actively observe and provide feedback around the crew's work to eliminate at-risk behavior, identify safety issues and help ensure corrective actions are taken.
  • Manage and support Wellness activities at the project and market levels.
  • Act as a role model, coach and counsel to others on compliance with all safety standards.
  • Coach and mentor Safety Specialists and Supervisors on all role specific tasks.
  • Coach Safety Supervisors and Project Management Teams in the development of safety components and mitigation plans in Daily Activity Plans and Work Packages and review and approve major plans.
  • Review, oversee, and coach on development and delivery of project orientations.
  • Review, coach on development, and approve safety components of Project Management plan and Emergency Response Plans.
  • Establish relationships with local emergency response services and work with Corp Safety to develop company safety record keeping standards.
  • Oversee on-site Incident Investigations, root-cause analysis, and advise on Corrective Actions; make recommendations for long-term solutions.
  • Establish emergency planning and standards with Project Management and Corp Safety, including identifying and arranging local emergency and healthcare services, identifying warning signals, evacuation assembly points, and escape routes.
  • Oversee Injury Management for Job and Market; coordinate with the Corporate Disability Management.
  • Perform injury management including minor first aid, oversee investigation of safety violations, incident root cause investigation and reporting, return to work as needed.
  • Assist Safety Supervisors in establishment of modified duties for Teams Members with work modifications.
  • Investigate new and specialized safety equipment and PPE for incorporation in Cianbro practices.
  • Analyze CAPP (BBS) Market and Company trends, create sustainable corrective actions, and communicate out to project teams.
  • Lead the development and delivery of new and updated safety training across the Market.
  • Participate in Business Development opportunities and interviews with critical client safety requirements and concerns.
  • Participate in client meetings when required to address all safety related questions and concerns.
  • Assist with significant labor relations related issues as required.
  • Conduct daily inspections of job sites actively observing and providing feedback around the crew's work, tools, and equipment to eliminate hazards and identify at-risk behavior; advise on and help ensure corrective actions are taken.
  • Take an active role in the planning of upcoming work on the site to help the team identify potential safety issues and solutions.
  • Assist with developing, conducting, and documenting the job site safety orientations for all new team members, subcontractors, and other appropriate vendors, visitors, etc.
  • Develop and set up systems to ensure proper handling of all Hazardous Material Including proper use, storage, shipment, spill control and cleanup, and disposal.
  • Ensure compliance with all Safety or Environmental requirements per state and federal regulations.
  • Perform periodic industrial hygiene and environmental sampling.
  • Participate in third party and corporate safety audits and the follow-up required.
Qualifications/Requirements
  • Associates or Bachelor's degree. (Safety field preferred)
  • Four or more years of experience in workplace safety in the construction industry is preferred.
  • CPR, AED, and First Aid certification required.
  • Good interpersonal, communication and organizational skills are essential.
  • Proficient computer skills in Microsoft Office including Excel, Word, PowerPoint.
  • CHST, OHST, STS, CSP, SMS, EMT certifications a plus.
  • SMS and CSP are recommend.
  • A background in physical therapy is a plus.
  • OSHA 30 is required. OSHA 500 is a plus
