Senior Development Coordinator, Prospect Research, Development and Communications

Location: Washington, DC (Hybrid)

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Senior Development Coordinator will be a key member of the Leadership and Legacy Gifts(L&L) team and supports the team to identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward individual, donors and prospects. They will work closely with the Director to research, develop, analyze and maintain information on major gift and family foundation prospects and current donors. They also will support and manage a variety of projects and systems within the team and Development and Communications department in order to maximize donor prospecting, engagement and giving.

The Senior Development Coordinator must be deadline driven, able to multitask, work independently in a fast-paced environment and create relationships at all levels in the department and organization.


POSITION LOCATION:

The position is based in Project HOPE's Washington, DC office.

PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

Prospect Research

  • Research, qualify and identify top relationships within portfolio to determine individuals with capacity and make recommendations based on analysis and best practices.
  • Write and produce donor research briefs to be shared with the team and other organizational leaders and stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with the team to identify opportunities for individual and family foundation engagement, and steward relationships.
  • Research, qualify and identify top relationships within portfolio to determine individuals with capacity and make recommendations based on analysis and best practices.
  • Responsible for using donor search engines and other prospect research software to record, research, prospect and cultivate relationships with donors and determine next steps.

Donor Support

  • Project manage the production and mailing process for the L&L team, including newsletters, annual reports and appeal mailings.
  • Assist gift officers in event planning and management.
  • Draft and manages major donor and family foundation acknowledgements process.

Database and Moves Management

  • Creates and maintains constituent files and updates donor records within the CRM database.
  • Works with colleagues to identify and move mid-level donors into and out of the major gift and family foundation portfolios.

Operations

  • Assure compliance with all operational and donor policies and regulations
  • Performs other administrative duties as needed, including (but not limited to) the ordering of supplies, ad hoc support, and meeting preparation.
  • Other duties as assigned


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 5 years' relevant experience in an administrative fundraising, or non-profit capacity.
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field, or equivalent experience
  • Experience with prospect research software, a CRM such as Raiser's Edge or a related database, and project management systems such as Asana or a related platform.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with ability to develop positive relationships quickly and work in a team atmosphere with in-person and remote colleagues.
  • Strong project management skills
  • Ability to respond flexibly and resourcefully to workload fluctuations, demonstrating initiative and problem solving skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced entrepreneurial environment
  • Detail-oriented, organized and can handle multiple projects at one time
  • Able to work independently with minimal supervision and demonstrate motivational skills, professional maturity, and the ability to maintain confidentiality of information
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office suite of products
  • Experience in development and donor-facing roles preferred
  • Experience with international relief or global health sector preferred

Salary range starting at $65,000 USD per year based on candidates residing in the US. Compensation for the role is dependent on several factors including a candidate's location, qualifications, skills, and experience.
