Position Overview

QinetiQ Inc. is looking to hire a highly motivated mid-level Quality Engineer to work at our production facility in Lorton, VA. This position requires the flexibility to apply fundamental Quality Engineering skills and concepts across a typical program lifecycle for the Defense Technologies & Solutions business unit of QinetiQ, Inc.

Responsibilities
    Support an AS9100 Certified Quality Management System.
  • Apply fundamental Quality Engineering skills and concepts across a program lifecycle.
  • Assist with development and review of procedures, processes, and work instructions.
  • Participate in external audits of the Quality Management System in accordance with AS9100.
  • Support assigned programs in accordance with detailed Quality Plans.
  • Support incoming, in-process, and final inspection of electromechanical assemblies, textiles, and composites.
  • Interface with Quality Inspectors and Quality Engineers in Lorton, VA and other QinetiQ Inc. sites.
  • Verify product conformance to program specifications, designs, and acceptance tests.
  • Work with Internal and External customers to resolve any quality issues through application of Root Cause Analysis and Problem-Solving tools such as 5 Why, 8D, Cause and Effect / Ishikawa diagrams etc., and implementing effective countermeasures to prevent the issue from re-occurring.
  • Participate in Material Review Board and generate corresponding reports.
  • Liaison with DCMA Source Inspectors and Government customers.
  • Execute First Article Inspections in accordance with AS9102.
  • Execute AS9100 Internal Audits as assigned.
  • Assist with management of calibrated equipment.
  • Perform all other related duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial Engineering or a related technical field.
  • 3-5 years of experience in quality assurance within the aerospace or defense industry.
  • 2+ years of experience supporting an AS9100 or ISO9001 Quality Management System.
  • Experience leading cross functional groups and supporting audits and quality inspections.
  • Must be proficient in Windows, MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to effectively utilize critical thinking skills and problem-solving techniques.
  • Self-starter able to prioritize tasks and work independently.
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Certified AS9100 Internal auditor.
  • Certified IPC Specialist (CIS) for IPC-A-610 and IPC/WHMA-A-620.
  • Relevant experience with AS9100.
  • Experience working on DoD contracts.
  • Six Sigma Green Belt.
