Job Description

Grace is hiring an Operations Manager at our Curtis Bay, MD manufacturing site. The Operations Manger reports to the Site Operations Director.

W.R. Grace operates a comprehensive manufacturing plant and a technical and analytical services center in the Curtis Bay area of Baltimore. The company's largest facility at nearly a million square feet, Curtis Bay consists of 10 production plants that manufacture hundreds of products from four product lines: fluid cracking catalysts, hydroprocessing catalysts, polyolefin catalysts, and silicas. With approximately 600 employees, Grace is a significant employer in the Curtis Bay area. More than half of the products manufactured there are exported at a value of approximately $150 million annually. All employees at the Curtis Bay actively participate in environment, health and safety and play an integral role in achieving compliance with our EHS policy including emergency preparedness and response as defined in site-wide and local area documentation.

Responsibilities

* Assures safe working environment for employees and environmental compliance.
* Assures regulatory compliance and positive community relations.
* Works with customers and quality group as necessary to ensure requirements are met.
* Develops the annual operating plan/budgets and continuously reviews the plan compliance with respect to production, yields, and fixed costs.Reports and corrects variances from the plan.
* Works with the Operations and business leadership team to develop strategy, annual operating plan and other business plans.
* Manages the capital budget for the area.
* Manages raw material, production schedules, finished product inventories and logistics of shipments.
* Manages the engagement, performance and development of the area team.
o 10-15 direct reports, 75-100 in line organization
* Defines plant priorities and leads team to execute improvements in operating efficiency or to meet new business needs.
* Champions Six Sigma and Lean Manufacturing initiatives.
* Leads plant in conformance to ISO and GMP manufacturing standards.
* Participates in Sales and Operations Planning processes
* Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

* BS Degree in a technical discipline (preferably Chemical or Mechanical Engineering)
* Minimum of 10 years of experience in chemicals manufacturing.Minimum of 5 years of plant and/or regional leadership experience.

Preferred Qualifications

* Prior experience in Lean Manufacturing
* Six Sigma Certification
