Job Description

As an Information Security Engineer, you will:

A week in the life of an Information Security Engineer:

  • Recommends system enhancements to improve security deficiencies.
  • Harden systems based on applicable STIGs/SRGs
  • Develops, tests and integrates computer and network security tools.
  • Apply technical and cyber security knowledge to resolve IAVMs, STIG findings, potential infrastructure risks, and other cyber security related issues.
  • Develop and maintain configuration management policies for operating system baselines in compliance with STIG requirements.
  • Designs, develops and implements security requirements within an organization's business processes based on Cyber Team input.
  • Provides input for Security Test and Evaluation plans.
  • Provides input for RMF artifacts and security controls.
  • Analyzes policies and procedures against Federal and DoD guidelines and provides recommendations for closing gaps.
  • Develops, tests and integrates computer and network security tools.
  • Work with the platform system administrators to translate security requirements to actionable system tasks (Windows, Linux, OpenShift, VMWare, AWS).
Job Requirements
  • This is a full-time telecommute position with occasional trips to Chantilly, HQ.
  • Current DoD Secret security clearance
  • A current 8570/8140 IAC Level II Certification (Security + for example)
  • Working under only general direction, provides technical solutions to a wide range of difficult problems.
  • Independently determines and develops approach to solutions.
  • Bachelor's (or equivalent) with at least 6+ yrs of experience with the job requirements.
  • Familiarity with implementing SCAP, ACAS, and SPLUNK reporting
  • Working knowledge of STIGs, IAVMs, Special Publications and their application to information systems.
  • Working knowledge of RHEL

AMERICAN SYSTEMS is committed to pay transparency for our applicants and employee-owners. The salary range for this position is $90,000 - 110,000. Actual compensation will be determined based on several factors permitted by law.
