Job Description

Fibertek, Inc. is a leading developer of laser and electro-optic systems for the aerospace community, with key contributions to lasers for atmospheric sensing, laser communications, and lidar sensors for NASA, DoD, and commercial customers. We are looking for a Laboratory Manager to join our highly collaborative team in Herndon, Virginia. As the Laboratory manager, you will need experience with optical/electrical laboratory equipment and maintenance. You will coordinate engineering, quality control and facilities to track equipment, monitor laboratory supplies, schedule lab facilities and support general upkeep of more than 50 optical and electronic lab spaces.


Responsibilities:

  • Assisting in maintaining and tracking lab equipment
  • Ordering lab supplies
  • General maintenance and scheduling of lab facilities such as bake out ovens, vacuum chambers, etc.
  • Managing the inventory of lab supplies
  • Establishing and maintaining compliance with internal laboratory procedures.
  • Identify opportunities for policy and procedures improvements.
Job Requirements

Qualifications:

  • Technical associate degree required, bachelor's degree in engineering, or other relevant technical discipline preferred.
  • A minimum of 3 years of relevant experience:
  • - Working in an electro-optical laboratory.
  • - Working in and maintaining class 1k and 10k cleanrooms
  • - Understanding of basic electrical and optical measurement equipment
  • - Experience with research environment
  • Self-starter with Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • U.S. citizenship is required.
