Job Description

The department of Orthopaedic Surgery is seeking a Research Program Coordinator tocoordinate several orthopedic related sponsored clinical studies. This position will primarily support the Spine Outcomes Research Center in a sponsor-funded secondary analysis of clinical, radiographic and patient-reported outcome data. The position will coordinate the implementation of research protocols as well as ongoing administrative processes related to these studies; and provide continued monitoring of these studies ensuring that all protocols are followed and status reporting, and other regulatory components are performed correctly.


Specific Duties/Responsibilities

  • Oversee all research projects and activities.
  • Recruit and enroll research participants in studies.
  • Screen potential research participants
  • Follow research participants through the research study process including follow-up assessments.
  • Coordinate all study team members including undergraduate students working on the research project.
  • Submit timesheets for undergraduate students.
  • Draft research protocols.
  • Manage the IRB process for all studies. Draft IRB protocols, draft and complete continuing review paperwork, termination report paperwork, and change in research paperwork within IRB protocols.
  • IRB training and compliance monitoring for study members.
  • Coordinate all duties pertaining to opening new trials.
  • Ensure quality, consistency, and accuracy in the conduct of research trials.
  • Assist with fundraising efforts. Maintain list of donors, fellows, students and visitors.
  • Regular attendance at research meetings as well as providing updates on the study progress and issues related to the research.
  • Perform miscellaneous related duties as assigned.


Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in related discipline.
  • Additional related experience may substitute for required education, to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula.

Starting Salary Range: Min $17.00 - Max $30.00 HRLY ($52,000 targeted; Commensurate with experience)

JHU Equivalency Formula: 30 undergraduate degree credits (semester hours) or 18 graduate degree credits may substitute for one year of experience. Additional related experience may substitute for required education on the same basis. For jobs where equivalency is permitted, up to two years of non-related college course work may be applied towards the total minimum education/experience required for the respective job.
