Job Description

THOR Solutions is actively seeking a highly motivated Journeyman Systems/Electronics Engineer to support the United States Coast Guard in Washington, D.C. The ideal candidate will have an introductory understanding of shipboard electronic systems, their design, and shipboard integration.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Communicating and participating in IPTs and working groups with Navy entities in support of Coast Guard Program Management Offices.
  • Supporting Technical Interchange Meetings (TIMs) and capturing action items.
  • Coordinating and participating in the creation of technical papers, studies, and reports on emerging issues.
  • Analyzing technical reports from third party design validation sources and making recommendations to the Government.
  • Interfacing with the USCG Ship Design Team and other USCG Technical Authorities.
  • Track the baseline design for C4ISR systems including but not limited to radars, networks, internal communications, external communications, Navy Type Navy Owned (NTNO) equipment, combat systems, and Command & Control systems.
  • Review, Edit, an/or create Block Wiring Diagrams (BWD), Cable Run Sheets, Installation Control Drawings, Installation Requirement Drawings, and other Ship Installation Drawings (SIDs) using AutoCAD and Visio.

Location: Full time onsite at the USCG Headquarters in Washington, DC.

Pay: Starting at $90k+ based upon qualifications.

Travel: Approximately 10% travel is anticipated.

US Citizenship Required: Due to the requirements of the federal contract that this position supports, U.S. citizenship is required. Citizenship will be confirmed via I-9/E-Verify at the start of employment.

Secret Security Clearance Eligibility Required: This position requires eligibility for a DoD Secret security clearance. A qualified candidate will either already possess an active or Interim Secret clearance (preferred), or be eligible to obtain a new Secret clearance upon hire.

Typical Physical Requirements: Primarily desk/computer work in an office environment. May involve: repetitive motion. Periodic visits to waterfront/shipboard environments. May involve: traversing shipboard environments (e.g., confined spaces, ladders, hatches) or vision.

Typical Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Systems, Engineering, or related field.
    • Six (6) years of relevant work experience may be considered as a substitute for a Bachelor's degree.
    • An Associate's Degree (AS) plus four (4) years of relevant work experience may be considered as a substitute for a Bachelor's Degree.
  • At least three (3) years, and ideally at least six (6) years of relevant work experience.
  • At least one (1) year of demonstrated experience with U.S. shipbuilding acquisitions.
  • At least one (1) year of demonstrated experience supporting a major U.S. system acquisition program (DHS/USCG Level I, DoD ACAT I or equivalent).
  • Experience with Block Wiring Diagrams, Installation Control Drawings, Installation Requirements Drawings, and Cable Run Sheets required.
  • Familiarity with Information Assurance, Program Protection, and Risk Management Framework desired.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office programs, including expertise with MS Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
  • Familiarity with SharePoint and MS Teams.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
