Job Description

GED Individual Student Academic Education Program (ISAEP) Teacher-Adult Education

The job of the GED ISAEP Teacher Day program was established for the purpose of developing academic skills for students aged 16-22 preparing them for the Official GED exam.

Part-time position 25-30 per week

Salary - $30-$48 per hour (The hourly rate depends on your experience and certification)

Qualifications:

  • Must have a valid Virginia Department of Education License or the ability to obtain one within the first year of teaching.
  • Bachelor's degree in a job-related area.
  • Knowable of middle and high school mathematics, language arts, science, and social studies
  • Job-related experience is required experience in teaching and/or adult education instruction.
  • Strong computer skills required.

Responsibilities:

  • Adapts classroom curriculum for the purpose of students' workplace readiness and computer literacy skills.
  • Administers subject-specific assessments for the purpose of assessing student competency levels and/or developing individual learning plans.
  • Assesses student progress towards objectives, expectations, and/or goals for the purpose of providing feedback to students and administration.
  • Counsels and teaches students how to improve academic performance, study skills, problem-solving, and test-taking techniques.
  • Counsels students on postsecondary career and educational options.
  • Demonstrates methods required to perform classroom and/or subject-specific assignments for the purpose of providing an effective program that addresses individual student requirements.
  • Instruct students for the purpose of improving their success in academics through a defined course of study.
  • Participates in a variety of meetings for the purpose of conveying and/or gathering information required to perform functions.
  • Prepares a variety of written materials (e.g. grades, attendance, anecdotal records, etc.) for the purpose of documenting student progress and meeting mandated requirements.
  • Reports incidents (e.g. fights, etc.) for the purpose of maintaining the personal safety of students, providing a positive learning environment, and adhering to Education Code and school policies.
  • Responds to emergency situations for the purpose of resolving immediate safety concerns and/or directing to appropriate personnel for resolution.
  • Responds to inquiries from a variety of sources (e.g. other teachers, administrators, etc.) for the purpose of resolving issues, providing information and/or direction.
  • Performs other related duties, as assigned, for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the work unit.
  • May perform other additional duties or tasks as designated by supervisor.

Clearances

  • Criminal Justice Fingerprint/Background Clearance.
  • Tuberculosis Skin Test.

Public Health Compliance

  • Proof of COVID vaccination. Exemptions for religious/medical will be reviewed.
  • Must follow safety and health protocols.
