Job Description

Provides technical, administrative, and/or instructional support in the planning, development, or administration of English to Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) instructional programs. Functions as an educational professional with focus on facilitating or coordinating specific activities relevant to the administration of the ESOL program, providing professional guidance and support to ESOL and non-ESOL staff or teachers, or ensuring the appropriate conduct, implementation, or delivery of ESOL instructional programs at the school or district level.

Essential Functions
  • Provides professional and technical assistance to administrators, teachers and staff in areas related to the implementation of ESOL instructional programs, ESOL instructional support for teachers and paraprofessional staff, implementation of student services, or operational administration of the district level ESOL program under the guidance of the ESOL Coordinator and Director of Differentiated Learning.
  • Assists in planning and conducting academic or student support programs and activities at the school or district level for English Learners (ELs).
  • Assists in the implementation and support of new initiatives and standards that provide for quality instruction, effective student services, and improved outcomes for ELs.
  • Assists in providing guidance and support to ESOL and non-ESOL instructional staff as appropriate.
  • Assists in coordinating and facilitating specific ESOL instructional programs and projects as assigned.
  • Plans and implements professional development presentations or demonstrations for ESOL and non-ESOL staff.
  • Researches and analyzes data and prepares reports and recommendations.
  • Assists in interpreting and communicating ESOL program specific standards, emphases, and guidelines.
  • Assists in monitoring and evaluating specific ESOL programs and activities. Works with ESOL Coordinator, Director of Differentiated Learning, and school leadership to ensure compliance with policies, procedures, and requirements.
  • Assists in developing Title III grant proposals, implementing Title III grant programs, and reporting Title III grant activities.
  • Performs and promotes all activities in compliance with equal employment and nondiscrimination policies; follows federal laws, state laws, school board policies and the professional standards.
Maximum Salary 108395.00
Minimum Salary 62008.00
Desired Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in related field. Master's degree may be required for some positions.
  • Valid Maryland State Department of Education Standard Professional Certificate with ESOL endorsement.
  • Five years ESOL teaching or related experience.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Effective interpersonal and organizational skills.
  • Proficient in the knowledge and use of technical computer applications including Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with students, peers, and parents.
  • Ability to facilitate positive communication and coordination of program activities with teachers, administrators, and staff.
  • Ability to analyze and interpret data and prepare reports.
  • Ability to prepare and deliver effective presentations.
