Position Title Humanities Adjunct Faculty Pool
FLSA Non-Exempt
FT/PT Part Time
Hours Per Week 3 hours a week in class (or online) per 3-credit course and additional hours for grading and course preparation
Work Schedule May be morning, afternoon, or online
Position Salary Range See adjunct salary schedule below
General Responsibilities
This posting is a pool for those interested in teaching humanities (HUMN) courses offered at HCC. Courses include creative writing, Introduction to the Humanities, Introduction to the Creative Arts. The department chair and/or coordinator will review applications when staffing needs arise. The pool will be cleared annually in January, so please reapply if interested.
Adjunct faculty may teach 1-3 courses each semester, depending upon enrollment needs, availability, and skill match. Teaching in any mode requires use of the learning management system Canvas as well as participation as needed in course assessments. Adjunct faculty are invited to participate in professional development.
Work Performed
For each assigned course, prepare course materials and Canvas course site as guided by the humanities instructional team, deliver quality instruction appropriate to mode, meet with students in person or virtually, grade/assess student work promptly, attend required faculty meetings, and complete required trainings and other employment related requirements.

A master's degree in humanities, arts, or closely related discipline or significant graduate work towards the degree or significant professional experience as determined by chair/coordinator.
Prior teaching experience; college teaching experience preferred.
Prior college teaching experience in humanities preferred.
Ability to use or learn to use the learning management system (Canvas) for course information, communication, and in hybrid and online modes, delivery.
