Licensing Coordinator

Job Description

SSP America is hiring a Licensing Coordinator who will track and manage all issued licenses for business, health, liquor, and others in connection with our company and the ownership and operation of food and beverage locations in airports. Additionally, will handle a wide range of licensing matters and may assist in other legal projects. 

 

  • In office - located in our Ashburn, VA office with hybrid potential once fully trained

 

Essential Functions

  • Assist in the collection, preparation, and tracking of all licensing support documentation, accurately preparing applications and disclosure submissions related to operating licenses as required by federal, state, and local governments.
  • Monitor the status of all licenses, setting expectations that all license renewals and applications are accurately and promptly filed.
  • Initiate and as requested, provide status reports on pending licensing matters, advice in course of action during licensing process, and identify, review and understand internal files and documents related to licenses.
  • Oversee the execution, retention, and destruction of licensing documentation. 
  • Conduct due diligence on third parties and legal research to provide guidance on licensing compliance and legal/regulatory requirements
  • Collaboratively work with key stakeholders in the areas of Business Development, Operations, Procurement, HR, Accounting, Information Technology, Marketing, Culinary and Design & Construction
  • Assist legal team members with other projects and deliverables, as necessary

 

Education, Experience & Skills

  • Completed bachelor’s degree (or international equivalent) in business, law, or related field preferred
  • Minimum of two (2) years’ experience as a licensing professional; preference working with multi-unit food and beverage concessionaires, brands, and operational teams, or with suppliers, distributors, and service providers within the food, beverage, or hospitality industry required 
  • Corporate legal experience and/or paralegal certificate; demonstrating general understanding of corporate ownership structures preferred 
  • Educate business partners on relevant licensing matters.
  • Strong capability with office technology - Microsoft Office 365 (i.e., Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, etc.) and Adobe. Experience with licensing software (e.g., LicenseHQ)
