Development Sciences (DevSci) is a translational science organization that spans the entire drug discovery and development cycle - from early stage research to drug commercialization. Part of the drug development pipeline in DevSci includes the preclinical safety evaluation of candidate therapeutic molecules by toxicologists and pathologists in the Safety Assessment (SA) department in order to enable further evaluation in humans. The Genentech Nonclinical Operations (gNO) group in Safety Assessment is an integrated group consisting of Strategy & Business Operations, In Vivo Studies, Outsourcing, and Study Operations. We are the Genentech team that manages nonclinical study logistics, vendor relationships, and in vivo pharmacology services.
Job Description: This position will assist various development scientists and study operations teams on their respective projects requiring project management execution. You will work closely with the SA Strategy & Business Operations group who will provide insight into the tools and methodologies needed to support the technical science operations. Moreover, you will be an integral part of SA's overall long term organizational strategy as well as cross-functional projects by providing strategic frameworks to promote successful implementation of related deliverables. In addition, this position will provide you with a rotational experience to some of the sub functions with gNO to help you become more educated about the end-to-end drug development processes with a core focus on business operations.
Responsibilities:
Intern will report to the Head of SA Strategy & Business Operations
As needed, support initiatives to develop business cases, perform specific deep dive reviews, and analyses for senior leaders that inform or enable high-level decision-making on operations, strategy, and business change initiatives
Support senior program managers and directors across the entire project lifecycle to deliver on critical business operations activities
Work with various project teams to propose creative and efficient business solutions
Keep all stakeholders aligned by preparing and communicating project status report after analyzing risks, issues, schedule of the program or projects
Reimagine what's possible with emerging technologies that creates and sustains long-term value (operationally and scientifically)
Direct project correspondences by preparing and reviewing project proposals, memos, meeting minutes and emails
Qualifications:
The candidate should be Rising Junior or Senior in undergrad or a Graduate or Doctoral Student with a Major in engineering, life sciences, and/or business analytics and communications
High levels of creativity and quick problem-solving capabilities
Ability to and willingness to work cross functionally with other internal teams
Working knowledge of Google Suite and Microsoft Office tools (Excel & PowerPoint)
Ability to present and speak in front of professionals
Strong technical or communication writing acumen and desire to execute
Highly organized and detailed-oriented
Ability to execute in a virtual or remote setting
A strong interest in working across disciplines with scientists in a variety of fields
Desire to work closely with and help others
