Job Description:
The Ophthalmology, Metabolism, Neuroscience,
Immunology and Infectious Diseases (OMNI)-Biomarker Development department at
Genentech is seeking a highly motivated Intern to support our efforts in identifying novel
molecular biomarkers that improve understanding of retinal diseases. Our
department provides translational science expertise to inform the clinical development
of novel personalized therapeutics, and our biomarker teams investigate the molecular
pathways of disease and help demonstrate the mechanism of action of our
therapeutics.
Responsibilities:
The successful candidate will work with our ophthalmology group to develop novel approaches to measure biomarkers in patient ocular fluid samples collected from pre-clinical experiments, clinical trials, and/or real-world clinical studies.
In addition, the candidate will also carry out data analysis efforts to assess assay performance and characterize biomarker relationships. Success in these responsibilities requires an understanding of disease biology, creativity, strong analytical skills, and attention to detail. In addition, an ability to effectively closely collaborate with other researchers and to summarize complex data and communicate results in a clear and concise manner is essential.
Qualifications:
Genentech is an equal opportunity employer, and we embrace the increasingly diverse world around us. Genentech requires all new hires to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 as of their start date. This requirement is a condition of employment at Genentech, and it applies regardless of whether the position is located at a Genentech campus or is fully remote. If you are unable to receive the vaccine due to a disability or serious medical condition, or because it is prohibited as a result of your sincerely held religious beliefs, you will have an opportunity to request a reasonable accommodation.
