Job Description

LOOKING FOR: A mission-driven, journeyman engineer with the ability to obtain asecret clearance to join our AMERICAN SYSTEMS Simulations and Systemsteam as a Journeyman Marine Mechanical Engineer in Washington DC. Candidate will support the United States Coast Guard Ship Design Team at USCG Headquarters.

As a Journeyman Marine MechanicalEngineer you will:

A week in the life of a Journeyman Marine Mechanical Engineer:

  • Design, develop, and evaluate the operation of marine vessels, ship machinery, and related equipment, such as power supply and propulsion systems.
  • Review third party design modifications and improvements to mechanical systems
  • Assist with performing design reviews, evaluating constructability, helping resolve technical uses and managing information generated through design and construction phase
  • Assist with marine engineering analysis related to vessels
  • Help team to create graphical representations of structures
  • Inspect equipment or systems
  • Research advanced engineering designs or applications
  • Support in preparation of technical reports for internal use

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Ability to obtain a Secret clearance

At least 3 to 10 yearsof experience in:

  • Mechanical engineering with a focus on marine specific fields (i.e. auxiliary systems, propulsion systems, fluids and hydraulics)
  • Working with Microsoft office suite
  • experience with AutoCAD and other design software
